Eight people have received burns in two separate fire incidents inside two salons in capital's Rayer Bazar and Badda areas on Monday.
The injured have been admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. They are owner of Nupur Hair Style Nupur Majumder, 26, her cousin and employee Gautam Majumder and two customers Tanin, 19, and Md Jashimuddin, 25, staff members of Joy Hair Dresser Ruble, 23, Mithun, 23, and customers Ajit, 20, nd Sumon, 17.
Of the injured, six were in critical conditions, the resident surgeon of the burn unit Dr Partha Sankar Pal confirmed the Dhaka tribune.
He said: "The respiratory system of most of the injured has been affected."
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur police station said: "An explosion was occurred from a short circuit inside a salon named Nupur Hair Style at about 6:45am, leaving four people injured.”
Later, locals rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Doctors said condition of two was stated to be critical and one of them was kept at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of DMCH's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit.
On the other hand, four people were injured in Joy hair dresser, a salon at Badda Notun Bazar in Bhatara, as it caught fire around 5:30am. Of the injured, Rubel has been shifted at ICU.
Locals said the fire might have been caused from the electric short circuit.
