Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her deep shock at the death of eminent journalist, writer and former lawmaker Baby Moudud.
"I have lost one of my long- time beloved friends in her death," Sheikh Hasina said in a condolence message.
The prime minister also recalled Baby Moudud's invaluable contribution to journalism and politics, BSS reported.
"The nation has lost a dedicated journalist and writer in her death," she said.
The prime minister also remembered with gratitude the role of Baby Moudud in editing the book "Asamapta Atmajibonee" (Unfinished Memoir) authored by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Baby Moudud, who had been suffering from cancer, breathed her last at United Hospital in the city about 3pm on Friday. She was 66.
She left behind two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
