Liberal Democrat MP of Britain David Ward twitted in favour of Gaza saying he would fire rockets into Israel if he was in Gaza.
David Ward was forced to apologise after making comments on Twitter about Israel’s offensive in Gaza, reports UK based The Independent.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the MP said:"I utterly condemn the violence on both sides in Israel and Gaza. I condemn the actions of Hamas, and my comments were not in support of firing rockets into Israel. If they gave the opposite impression, I apologise."
Defending Israel’s right to exist, he vowed to continue to speak out for the Palestinian people and said he understood the “plight and desperation” of families in Gaza.
A Liberal Democrat spokesperson said: "This is a categorical apology from David Ward. In light of this apology, the party and the whips will decide in due course if further disciplinary action should be taken."
The British politician on Tuesday twitted: "The big question is - if I lived in #Gaza would I fire a rocket? - probably yes.”
In a follow-up message, he wrote ""Ich bin ein #palestinian - the West must make up its mind - which side is it on?"
Later, the MP was criticised on Wednesday for tweeting in favour of Gaza.
