Mayor of the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) M Manjur Alam yesterday expressed hopes that Mariners Road would reduce traffic jams in the port city to a great extent.
The mayor said this while addressing the inaugural programme of the 1.3-kilometre long road stretching from Firingi Bazar area to Bridge Ghat.
He said, “After completion of the construction of Rajakhali Bridge, the road will be directly connected with Shah Amanat Bridge, which will save the commuters’ time and ease the traffic congestion.”
The road was constructed at a cost of Tk12 crore and will be upgraded into a four-lane one for an extra expense of Tk 25 crore later, he added.
