Communication Minister Obaidul Quader has assured that the damaged highways will be repaired by the next Eid.
The minister has made the statement while visiting the capital’s Farmgate area on Tuesday.
Obaidul said: “The commuters will not suffer any more due to traffic and on-going construction by the next Eid. The Roads and Highways Department is trying their best to repair the roads and highways for easy movement of vehicles.”
While answering to a query of the journalists, he said: “People will criticise me. I cannot avoid the responsibility of tailbacks.”
On July 12, Obaidul Quader ordered to repair all the roads and highways by July 20 for easy and risk-free movement of vehicles before and after the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Hoever, the large portion of highways and roads across the country, including Dhaka city, still remain dilapidated.
