Death of 76 children: 3 get 10-year jail
A Dhaka court has sentenced three officials of Adflame Pharmaceuticals to 10 years of imprisonment in a case filed for the deaths of 76 children by adulterated drugs in the 1990s.
Judge Abdur Rashid of Dhaka Drug Court has passed the order on Tuesday afternoon.
Sylhet rail link with Dhaka-Chittagong halted
Railway communication of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong has been suspended after a compartment of an oil-carrying wagon derailed at Moghlabazar area near Sylhet railway station on Tuesday morning.
Station Manager Abdur Razzak said: “No scheduled trains could leave the station since the derailment at Moghlabazar area around 9.30am.”
Mother-daughter killed in Sylhet road accident
Three people have been killed as a bus rammed down a CNG-run auto rickshaw on Teliabazar Bridge under south Surma upazila in Sylhet on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Roksana Begum, 35, her daughter Meem, 8, and Salam, driver of the auto rickshaw.
15 injured as bus cylinder blasts
At least 15 persons have been injured as the gas cylinder of a passenger bus exploded in Napora area under Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong.
The injured were rushed to upazila health complex and Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Police, in a drive, have detained a person with 17,520 pieces of Yaba tablets from a house at Choitonno lane in Chittagong city on Tuesday morning.
The identity of the detainee could not be known immediately.
