Nobel Peace laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus met Myanmar democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi at her residence in Yangon during his three-day visit in the neighbouring country.
This was the first-ever meeting of the two Nobel Peace winners, said a press release. Prof Yunus arrived in Yangon on Saturday.
He thanked Suu Kyi for her support to replicate Grameen micro-credit programme in Delta Zone of Myanmar in 1997.
Prof Yunus spoke on the potential of close collaboration between the two countries and the needs to resolve the outstanding issues. Suu Kyi recollected her earlier visit to Bangladesh and hoped to visit the country again soon.
