Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has said administrative action will be taken against the recalled envoy to Lebanon AFM Gousal Azam.
The minister made the statement in a press briefing at his office on Sunday afternoon.
“We have taken the decision to recall Azam to protect our image abroad and national interest and administrative action will be taken against him,” he said.
Mahmod said the foreign ministry had no other option but to recall Gousal Azam as administrative system collapsed in the Beirut mission and there was lack of internal coordination.
“We did not have any option other than recalling him.”
The minister said Azam was warned before but he could not improve his managerial capacity.
Azam handed over charge to foreign ministry director general Nazrul Islam on Sunday and he would join the headquarters by July 27.
