Malaysian PM's grandmother was on MH17

The step-grandmother of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was on board the Malaysia Airlines passenger plane that crashed in violence-wracked Ukraine, reported the Telegraph.

According to Najib's cousin Hishammuddin Hussein, 83 years old Puan Sri Siti Amirah, who was once married to Najib's maternal grandfather as his second wife, was traveling alone on her way back to Jogjakarta, Indonesia from Amsterdam and intended to transit at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Siti Amirah was also Hishammuddin's step-grandmother.

"Pls pray 4 her," he wrote on his Twitter feed above a photo of her.

Najib, 60, is the son of Malaysia's second prime minister Abdul Razak, while Hishammuddin is the son of the country's third premier Hussein Onn.

The mothers of Hishammuddin and Najib are siblings.

Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crashed Thursday over eastern Ukraine killing all 298 people on board, with officials in Kiev and Moscow both denying involvement in the shooting down of the plane.
