“The electoral enquiry committee has found evidences of violation of the electoral code of conduct by four people including lawmaker Shamim Osman in the Narayanganj 5 by-election. We will present the report before the commission soon.”
A Senior Assistant Secretary of the law wing of the Election Commission Mosharaf Hossain said.
“We will not engage in any war. We will conduct a movement in protest against the government’s repression, and reintroduce people’s voting right and the rule of law to the country.”
The BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia made the statement at an Iftar party hosted by the Federal Union of Journalists in association with the Dhaka Journalists Union at the National Press Club.
“A parliament is not sovereign unless all departments are accountable to it. This is mandatory to amend Article 96 to guarantee the sovereignty of the parliament.”
Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta told a press conference Thursday.
