Ex-Eden College teacher found dead in Dhaka

A former teacher of Eden Mohila College has been found dead at his office in the capital’s Old DOHS on Tuesday morning. The deceased was Mohammad Ali Hossain Malek, 65, a retired professor of Zoology department of the college, police said. “Being informed by the deceased’s family members, police rushed to the spot and recovered Ali around 9am,” said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bhasantek police station. “Primarily, we are suspecting that he might be stabbed to death by the staff of his own office.” Mahbubur Rahman, brother-in-law of the deceased, told the Dhaka Tribune that Ali Hossain joined real estate company as manager some eight to nine years ago after he left Eden College. On Monday night, Ali stayed at the second floor of his office which is now under construction located at 53/A, Road Number 2, said Mahbubur adding that Ali’s driver, care taker and several employees were also stayed at the building. Later the caretaker, Salim Miah, found him dead early morning and he informed Ali’s wife. Police, meanwhile, detained Salim for getting information in this regard, said the OC. Several others of the area had already been interviewed, the police official said. He added that police got details of two employees who fled from the house immediate after the incident. Meanwhile, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. No case was filed yet till filing of this report at 8:25pm.
