Lalmonirhat Hindu family comes under attack, four hurt

Four members of a Hindu family, including two women, were injured when a group of people attackedthem over a land dispute at Shafirhat village in Patgram upazila yesterday.

The injured were identified as Pushpa Rani, 62, her two sons --Shyamol Chandra Sen, 42, Kamal Chandra Sen, 35, and Dipali Rani, 32, wife of Shyamol of the village.

Police said Pushpa Rani and her fellow-villager Abul Hossain had been at loggerheads over two bighas of land in the area, reports UNB.

As a sequel to the enmity, Abul Hossain’s supporters reportedly swooped on Pushpa’s house around 9:30 am and beat all the four members of the family, leaving them injured, said officer-in-charge of Patgram Police Station Aminul Islam.

The attackers also set a house on fire after vandalising it during the incident. The injured were rushed to Patgram Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
