The government is yet to decide about the deputy commissioner’s proposal regarding paternity leave for public servants.
Public Administration Ministry’s Senior Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury made the disclosure after meeting with the deouty commissioners at secretariat on Thursday afternoon.
The deputy commissioners proposed the government to start a provision of paternity leave of 15 days for the public servants. Female public servants and employees enjoy six months maternity leave at present.
The DCs also proposed the upgradation of divisional commissioner’s post into Grade-I as secretary status, he said.
“Though the deputy commissioners proposed about the issues, the government is yet to decide it. It may take more times to take decision about the issues as it is related to government’s policy level decision," said the official.
He further said until the government takes such decisions, the ministry has nothing to do. "We, however, always examine deputy commissioner’s proposals that they submit to the ministry. We will consider the issues."
