Police have recovered the body of a farmer, who went missing since July 6, from near a canal at Mandia village under Harinakundu upazila in Jhenaidah on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Haque Ali, 35, son of Sobhan Ali of Mathandulia village under the same upazila.
Harinakundu police station Officer-in-Charge Ershadul Kabir said: "On information, police recovered the body from the canal of Mandia village. His two eyes were gauged. Haque Ali was strangulated to death by a bi-cycle tube."
He said: "Haque went missing from his house since July 6 evening."
The body has been sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
A case has been filed in Harinakundu police station in this connection. However, none was arrested in this regard.
