81 gold bars seized at airport, 2 held

 Customs officials and Armed Police Battalion (APBn), in two separate drives, have arrested two persons with 10kg of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday.

The detainees are identified as Alauddin and Shahin.

Deputy Director of Airport Customs Intelligence Mostafizur Rahman confirmed about the matter, reports BSS.

On information, customs officials searched Alauddin's body and seized 64 gold bars after he arrived at the airport in a flight from Doha of Qatar around 6am.

In another drive, APBn arrested Shahin with 17 gold bars. He was a passenger of a flight of United Arab Emirates Airlines which landed here this morning.

"A total of 81 gold bars worth about Tk5 crore have been seized in the drives," a customs official said.

Two separate cases were lodged with Airport Police Station in these connections.
