The government has a plan to build a city near Padma bridge at Maua point, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said.
The prime minister made the disclosure while holding a meeting with the officials of the communications ministry at the secretariat on Sunday, a senior official of the ministry told the Dhaka Tribune over phone.
As many areas near Padma bridge would not be used, a city can be built, the official said quoting the prime minister as saying.
The premier attended offices at different ministries and urged the officials concerned to expedite activities to deliver services to the people.
Similarly, the prime minister held office at the communications ministry on Sunday. Communications Minister Obaidul Quader and ministry officials were present.
In a written speech, Sheikh Hasina said Padma bridge is no more a dream. “I hope Padma Bridge could be opened for people in 2018”.
