Benapole customs have held wife of a police official with Indian sarees on Saturday.
Some 46 pikes of Indian sarees were seized from the possessions of Wasia Parvin, wife of Quayum Ali Sarder, officer in-charge, Bagharpara police station, Jessore.
Hasanuzzaman, customs official at the land port, told the Dhaka Tribune.
Parvin was bringing the Indian sarees to Bangladesh using a middleman while she was returning from India holding a passport bearing number AA-7392991, said Hasan.
The customs official also said a total of 54 sarees were found inside the luggage of the woman.
Of the total, 8 were returned to her for her use.
‘The goods were deposited to Benapole customs house,’ he added.
