Private clinic doctors on strike in khulna

Doctors of private clinics and diagnostic centres went on a 48-hour strike from Saturday morning, July 5, in demand of “security”.

Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) called the strike Friday evening following alleged vandalism and abduction of a doctor at Gazi Medical College Hospital in the city.

On Wednesday night, a group of students of Khulna University allegedly vandalised the hospital and later abducted an intern doctor centering treatment for a student injured in an accident.

Later, the caretaker of the private medical college, Dr Bangakamal Basu, filed a case accusing 200 to 300 people naming 15 for attack, vandalism and abduction.

Basu, who is also a central councilor of BMA, said new programme would be declared if the administration did not take proper action.
