A college student, who was abducted from Uttara, has been rescued at Kafrul of the capital early Friday.
Imtiyaz Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Police at Mirpur Division, told the Dhaka Tribune that the 19-year-old abducted girl was rescued at a house in South Kafrul by the members of Uttara (East) police station.
Police also arrested four of the alleged kidnappers from the spot, he said.
The detained are Rummon, his father, a brother and one of his aides.
The rescued girl was taken to Uttara along with the detained persons, the DC said.
“But we have no detail information on the matter as the abduction incident had taken place in Uttara and the arrest was made by the members of Uttara police station," he added.
Fatema Akhter, student of Cambrian School and College, had been abducted by a gang of armed criminals at Sector-4 in Uttara at around 11pm while she had been returning from a market along with her fiance Mahfuzul Huq and her mother Nurunnahar.
The armed criminals abducted the girl leaving security guard Md Liton of an adjacent building shot dead and her bridegroom stabbed when they had tried to resist the abductors, said Inspector Shahadat Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of Uttara East police station.
The body of the deceased security guard was sent to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College morgue.
Injured Mahfuzul was also admitted to the DMCH.
The rescued girl was admitted to a privet clinic, said Inspector Shahadat Hossain Khan but he did not elaborate the condition of the girl.
