Offices of three senior secretaries were reshuffled yesterday as they would go on post retirement leave (PRL) by this month.
The Public Administration Ministry yesterday issued separate gazette notifications of the three reshuffles.
Of the three, Senior Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division Mojammel Haque Khan was transferred to the Home Ministry as Senior Secretary while member and Senior Secretary of Planning Commission Hedayetullah Al Mamun was made Senior Secretary of Commerce Ministry.
In addition to the two, Senior Secretary of Commerce Ministry Mahbub Ahmed was transferred to Finance Division as Senior Secretary.
Nobody, however, was appointed as the secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
According to the Public Administration Ministry, Finance Secretary Fazle Kabir will go on PRL today while Senior Secretary of Home Ministry CQK Mustak Ahmed will do so on July 8.
Member of the Privatisation Commission Rokeya Sultana went to PRL yesterday as she reached 59.
Member of the Planning Commission Uzzal Bikash Dutta will start his PRL from August 9 while that of Environment and Forest Secretary Shafiqur Rahman Patwary is scheduled for August 31.
PRL of Railway Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and Education Secretary Dr Muhammad Sadique will start from September 12 and September 18 respectively. Housing and Public Works Secretary Golam Rabbani will also reach 59 in September.
Liberation War Affairs Secretary KH Masud Siddiqui will go on PRL from October 31 while Asian Development Bank Alternate Executive Director Iqbal Mahmood and Health Secretary MM Neazuddin will do so on November 29 and December 30 respectively.
According to the ministry, it has already sent proposals for appointing five additional secretaries as secretaries-in-charge while sources said more five names were sent.
They are AZM Shamsuddin Azad Chowdhury of the Health Ministry, Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury of the Communication Ministry, Personal Secretary of the LGRD minister Ashok Madhab Roy, Prime Minister’s Personal Secretary Abdul Malek, Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Jillar Rahman, Begum Dilruba of the Public Administration Ministry, Director General of the Department of Primary Education Shyamol Kanti Nag, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director SM Ashraful Alam, Anwar Faruque of the Agriculture Ministry and Jalal Uddin Ahmed.
Public Administration Ministry’s Joint Secretary (APD) Muhibul Haque said posts of three secretaries remain vacant, adding: “We are preparing to fill the posts by appointing senior officials. The list has already been made. It will be done within a day or two,” he added.
