Ambassador-at-Large Md Ziauddin has been made ambassador to the United States for three years.
A gazette notification issued by Public Administration Ministry has said this on Wednesday.
The tenure would be counted from the date of his joining, the notice says.
Earlier, as Ambassador-at-Large he was enjoying the designation equivalent to that of a state minister.
Md Ziauddin is a retired BCS official under Foreign Ministry.
