Police have arrested a youth in a disabled girl rape case at Naldanga upazila in the district early Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Farid, 25, son of Shamsul Islam of Bamonpara village of the upazila.
Manirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Naldanga police station, quoting the victim's family, said, a youth named Zahid, son of Abdul Jabbar of Kathuwagari village of the upazila raped a disabled girl of the same village on June 11.
Locals held the rapist after hearing the victim's scream.
However, Zahid's guardians released him saying that they will contact marriage between Zahid and the victim.
After some days, they did not wish to do that, rather Zahid's family members and his friend Farid made threats to the victim's family members.
Finding no way, the victim's mother lodged a case against four early Wednesday. Afterwards, police arrested Farid.
