"You all keep in mind that each of you is the ambassador of Bangladesh and people from around the world are observing you here," said President Hamid.

It is marked as the first ever visit of any Bangladeshi president at the office of Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.

The president asked the officials to carry forward their duties in such a way so that the image of Bangladesh would be brightened as well as interest can be secured.

"It is your duty to prove in front of the world that as a nation we are one of the best," he said.

Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Dr AK Abdul Momen gave the welcoming speech and briefed the president about various activities of the mission in the UN.

Dr Momen said presently Bangladesh is an elected member in 36 UN committees and the mission officials are engaged in a debate to set post MDG development goals.

"Now we are working on setting new development goals considering environment, social and economic sustainability to make the world free from poverty," he said.
