Armed Police Battalion (APBn) held three persons along with foreign currencies worth around Tk48.34 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (SIA) in the capital on Thursday night.
The arrestees are Abdul Karim, 48, Zikir Miah, 36, and Asgar Ali, 41.
Mohammad Al-Amin, an assistant superintendent of the APBn at the Airport, said: “Acting on a tip-off, we arrested those three persons and seized the currencies by searching their bodies and luggages near the information Centre at Terminal 1. The seized currencies include US dollar and Euro.”
Among the detainees, Karim arrived in Dhaka by a flight of Minim Lanka Airlines from Maldives around 9pm while Zikir and Asgar came here to receive him, he added.
The APBn members said the arrestees have been handed over to the Airport police station and a case has been filed in this connection.
