“The much-controversial matter of uncontested elected members of parliament has been resolved through the High Court judgement.”

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said after the HC declared that there was no scope to question the validity of the 153 MPs who were elected unopposed in the 10th parliamentary election held on January 5.

“Kalshi incident proves that there is no government in the country. Democracy is exiled today. Barbaric rule has been prevailing in the country. Repressive government has been running the country. The criminals are freed as there is no rule of law in the country.”

Khaleda came up with the allegation when the deceased family members of Kalshi incident and some stranded Biharis met the former premier at her Gulshan office on Thursday.

“The contract agreement for the [proposed] Padma bridge has been signed. The communication minister has said the bridge will be opened for traffic by 2018. This bridge must have a name. I propose naming the bridge after a noble woman who has inspired (Bangabandhu) in the war of independence and other movements from behind the scene.”

Jatiya Party’s presidium member Kazi Feroz Rashid, who frequently criticises the government in Parliament, proposed this on Thursday.

“It was published in different media that Tarek Sayeed gave a confessional statement and through this our apprehension came true. RAB institutionally involved with killing and abduction."

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, acting secretary general of the BNP, made the allegation in a press conference at party’s Nayapaltan headquarters on Thursday.
