Momtaz sings in parliament

Ruling Awami League MP popular folk singer Momtaz has sung a song in the parliament dedicating to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She came up with the song while participating in the discussion on the proposed budget of the current fiscal in the House on Thursday.

When Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury called her upon to place her speech on budget, she started singing the famous song written by Annada Shankar Ray, Jata din rabe padma, meghna, gauree, jamuna bahaman/ tatadin rabe keerti tomar Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which is the lasting memory of Bangabandhu, the father of the nation.

She ended her speech with another parody song, on the tune of the first one and it was about Sheikh Hasina, saying: “The nation would once realise the contribution of Sheikh Hasina.”

When the song was being sung, Sheikh Hasina was seen smiling while the MPs applauded the song knocking on the table.
