Ministry of Commerce has instructed traders to hang price lists of essential commodities in their shops and provide the consumers with memo after any purchase.
The ministry also directed them to sell essential commodities at fair prices while National Consumers Rights Protection Directorate (NCRPD) under the ministry and district administration will constantly monitor each market in the country, said an official handout.
The commerce ministry high officials said the ministry will take stern action against traders if traders are not complying with the directives.
The instructions came following an emergency meeting of the ministry officials with importers and retail level traders on Thursday.
Cancellation of trade licences and confiscation of essential commodities are in the action programmes.
The businessmen in the meeting said supply and stock of essentials are now stable in the country.
They also assured that there will be no abnormal rise in prices of commodities and artificial crisis of the essentials during the holy month.
