More than 100 shops and hosiery factories have been gutted in a fire that broke out in three markets in Narayanganj city early Wednesday.
Witness said the fire originated from Sohrowardi market around 4am and soon engulfed the nearby markets.
The markets were stocked heavily with children garments, T-shirts, pants for the upcoming Eid.
Narayanganj Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Razzak said: “Fire Brigade was informed about the fire soon after it broke out around 4am.”
He said: “Four fire fighting units managed to douse the fire around 7am. The victims claimed a loss of Tk100 crore.”
