Some 23 more textile institutes will be set up in the country.
State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam made the disclosure on Tuesday, reports BSS.
The new 23 textile institutes would be in addition to the existing 40 vocational textile institutes.
The textile sector earns the lion's share of foreign exchange of the country, which will double in the next five years, the minister said.
Azam was speaking at a workshop organized by the project for the establishment of 10 textile vocational institutes under the textile department at Dhaka's Jute Diversification Promotion Center in the capital's Farm Gate area.
Textile department to be upgraded a directorate and it would also operate as the apparel authority of the country, Azam said.
He appealed to textile engineers to help develop the sector.
