At least four people including two policemen have been injured in a clash between police personnel and a patient's relatives over autopsy of two bodies at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday morning.
DMCH police outpost In-charge Inspector Mozammel Haque told Dhaka Tribune that relatives of deceased Tahmina locked into a clash with police when the hospital authority did not give them permission to take the bodies without autopsy, leaving four injured including two policemen.
Later, the authority handed over the bodies around 12pm after a meeting with the relatives of the deceased.
Three people were injured when a speedy truck hit an auto-rickshaw at Bamoil in Demra in the capital around 11am on Tuesday.
Later, injured Tahmina Akter, 34, Sumi, 30, and their grandfather Posir Khan, 95, were taken to DMCH in critical condition where the duty doctors declared Tahmina and Posir dead, said Jakir Hossain Khan, a cousin of the dead.
“We wanted to take the bodies without autopsy, but the hospital authority did not hand over the bodies to us without autopsy,” he said.
Demra police have seized the truck in this connection, the inspector said.
