Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College unit Chhatra League President Soumen Dey has given confessional statement under section 164 before a Sylhet court in Chhatra Dal leader Touhid murder case on Sunday.
His deposition has been recorded in the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 of Md Shahedul Karim from 3pm to 5:30pm.
Md Rahmatullah, ADC of Sylhet Metropolitan Police and head of media wing, has told the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier Soumen was produced before the court around 1:30pm.
Later, when he agreed to give confessional statement he was taken to Kotwali police station for a while.
After the deposition, the court has ordered to send him to jail.
Soumen was arrested from Sylhet railway station around 10pm on Saturday while he was preparing to leave Sylhet.
On Wednesday evening, a gang of miscreants killed Touhidul Islam, a MBBS student and also Chhatra Dal leader of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.
Following the incident his uncle Anwar Hossain filed a case mentioning the names of 10 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and 8-10 unnamed others.
Soumen has been the sole arrested among the mentioned accused of the case while the rest are on the run.
