Police have recovered the hanging bodies of a woman and her daughter at Bojoynagar village under Harirampur upazila in Manikganj on Sunday morning.
The deceased are Josna Begam, 28, wife of Tara Miah of the same village and their daughter Sadia Akter, 6.
Locals said Tara used to torture Josna for money. The couple locked into a quarrel when Josna refused to give him money on Saturday night.
Their bodies were noticed to be hung from a fig tree near their house on Sunday morning.
Later, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Manikganj Sadar morgue for autopsy around 9am.
However, Tara Miah went into hiding after the incident.
Police suspected that Tara might have strangulated the mother and daughter to death and hung the bodies on the tree.
Harirampur police station Officer-in-Charge Habibullah Sarkar said they are trying to arrest Tara.
