Mobile phone operator Robi saw a rise in revenue but drop in profit throughout the first quarter of this year, the company's first quarter report has said.
Robi's revenue growth was eight percent on a year-on-year basis with the same amount of negative growths on net profit, the report said on Wednesday.
Revenue on user revenue and usage also marked a rise in the January-March period this year, said the report published by the operator’s parent company Axiatia group.
The growth was the outcome of launching 3G services and restoration political stability, the company mentioned.
The report will be made public in a press conference in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. However, Dhaka Tribune came across the report early.
Robi's revenu totaled Tk1.168 crore in the first three months of 2014, what was Tk1,081 a year ago.
The Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) stood at Tk148 per month which was Tk167 at this time of last year, but it also came down during October-December last year.
Uses per user also came down compare to first quarter of 2013 decreased but compare to last quarter of 2013 it increased.
The report showed the number of subscribers of the operator also grew 12% year-on-year to 2.39 crore and at the same time 6% negative growths than the last quarter of 2013.
Robi is the second largest mobile phone operator in Bangladesh in terms of the revenue and third in terms of number of subscribers.
