State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the three former officers of Rapid Action Battalion allegedly involved in the abduction and killing of seven people in Narayanganj would be arrested any time.
“In compliance with the High Court order, something will happen very soon and the officers will be arrested any time,” he told reporters yesterday.
“We have no intention to save these officers. The Home Ministry has already done its job as per the High Court order.”
The High Court on Sunday ordered the arrest of the three RAB officers.
He denied dilly-dallying over the arrest of the three officers, mentioning that there are some formalities as the sacked officers are entitled to enjoy the facilities of Post Retirement Leave (PRL).
“The Inspector General of Police is regularly maintaining contact with the Defence Ministry.”
About unconfirmed information that the Defence Ministry had sent a letter to the Home Ministry to consider the involvement of RAB officers as criminal offence, Kamal said, “I am not aware of such a letter”.
He said, “We are trying to trace and arrest Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven murder case.”
“I don’t know whether he has fled to India. If he went to India, he will be arrested there and brought back,” the state minister said, adding that Additional Director General of RAB Col Ziaul Ahsan informed him that Nur fled to India.
Seven people, including Narayanganj City Corporation Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker, were abducted on April 27 and their bodies found floating in the Shitalakkhya River after three days.
