DMCH honorary doctors go on 48-hour strike

The honorary doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) have enforced a 48-hour strike on Sunday demanding arrest of the suspected criminals involved in attack on the doctors on Saturday night.

The strike announcement came from an agitation programme of the honorary doctors at DMCH premises around 2pm, DMCH honorary doctor Mostafa Rezwan Siddique told the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “The doctors will go to tougher movements if the attackers are not arrested within the 48-hour time period.”

The agitating honorary doctors were not in services till filing of this report at 2:35pm.

About 900 honorary doctors remained abstained from providing medical services at DMCH.

The employed doctors are struggling to treat the patients coming for medical services.

Observing the situation, some patients went to other hospitals while some were waiting in long queues.

Witnesses and members of Shahbagh Police Station said a gang of unidentified criminals attacked on five to six DMCH doctors leaving one critically injured around 9:30pm.

The injured was Mominul Islam, 28, a honorary doctor of DMCH.
