According to Shakib, he has used every modern technologies available in-order to present the audience with something new. He also holds the title of the “highest paid actor” of the Bangladesh film industry. Dhaka tribune caught up with the superstar and talked about his personal and professional life:

You are ruling the industry for many years. Did you enjoy the so called ‘competition less’ stardom?

No one ever gets an open filed. When I started as an actor, I also had to face competition from popular actors of that time. I had to prove myself and win the audience appreciation through my dedication and hard work. Reaching stardom was an uphill climb and I am thankful to the almighty for my success. In-order to maintain my popularity, I have to work at it on a continuous basis. I am my worst critic and still now, I am learning new things, the process of acquiring knowledge is never-ending.

Are you satisfied with the roles and films being offered?

No, I am not satisfied. An actor is always famished for diversities in roles. Exploring oneself in different roles are always enjoyable, you can live many lives by playing a variety of roles on-screen.

Have you ever been approached by an art-film maker?

Yes, but I am not interested to work in an art-film. Art films are good for getting awards. If I can get awards by working in commercial films, why should I go for art-films where there is less audience interested in the genre? I like films with commercial appeal.

What changes are necessary in the industry to compete in the international market?

We have good cinematographers, directors and editors, but we need to improve our post-production phase to survive the competition.

The industry is becoming degitalised. How do you feel about it?

Well, currently the industry is in a transitional phase and we are open to exploring the new technologies available.

Everyday we are coming across something new for the audience to enjoy and we are eager to embrace these innovations. We need to adapt quickly to stay in line with the international standard.

What do you look for in a life partner?

I want to get married to a homely girl who will look after my family and take control in the home front.

Favourite co-actors?

Cannot point out anyone specific. I maintain a fair relationship with all my co-actors.
