Orthotics and Prosthetics School for the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) trainers started its maiden journey in the country yesterday in a bid to give local training facilities to especially help the permanent disabled in Rana Plaza disaster along with others.
Roswitha Amels, first Secretary from the German Embassy, inaugurated the training centre at the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) situated in Savar, which will run with the finance of CRP, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the German Development Cooperation.
The task of CRP professional trainers is to teach the use of artificial limbs to the permanent disabled so that they effectively get accustomed to the instruments.
At present, the professionals have to go abroad to get training in this regard.
During the inauguration, Amels said the German government was committed to give 2.5 mn Euro to the Rana Plaza Building collapse victims and their family members, and her government would also give support to the CRPs.
Through the school, the disabled would get professional training so that they can establish small businesses outside the garment industry.
Moreover, German Development Cooperation is going to support 500 Rana Plaza victims as well as 1,500 RMG workers by providing them sewing operator and floor supervisory training.
