TOI 'retracts' report on Bangladesh envoy

The Times of India report on “indifference” of Bangladeshi envoy in Delhi on the prospect of Narendra Modi as premier is “currently unavailable.”

After nearly six hours of publication of the news on its website on Sunday, Dhaka Tribune found out that the original article “no longer exists.”

However, the report titled “Nothing to worry if Modi gains power: Deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh in India” is available on Google search.

The report quoted Mahbub Hassan Saleh, deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh in India, and said Dhaka was 'not worried' with Modi as premier.

The statement was made amidst general polls across India with strong chances of Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) replacing two terms of Congress rule.

The Times of India report said the Bangladeshi envoy made the comment in an “informal chat” with the concerned reporter.

Modi is the prime minister candidate of BJP and his party has apparently been playing “Bangladesh card” in a bid to win over the voters.
