Khaleda demands early election

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has urged the government to arrange the 11th national election “as soon as possible” in order to restore democracy in the country.

She said: “The people of the country cannot express their opinion freely as the present government has killed it.”

Addressing the government, she said: “Arrange the national election as soon as possible in order to restore democracy and return to people their rights of expressing opinion.”

The BNP chief made the call while addressing the council of Shramik Dal in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Challenging the government, she said: “The government has understood that people love BNP. So, it arranged an illegal poll in order to snatch the power illegally.”

She urged the Awami League government to leave the “illegal power” and arrange a fair poll keeping faith on people.

Claiming that BNP is the only real force of the liberation war, she said: “People of the country know that Zia was the real leader of the war as he was present in the battlefield.

Those who escaped the battlefield during the war were escapists not warriors,” she added.

She further said: “Awami League has made a blood bath by killing thousands of people. This sacrifice will not go in vain.”
