The number plate of the vehicle that was used in Siddique abduction was fake.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chittagong Assistant Director Md Rofiqul Islam has told the Dhaka Tribune.
Abu Bakar Siddique was abducted from Fatulla area in Narayanganj on Wednesday afternoon while he was heading to Dhaka by his car.
The BRTA official said: “There is no vehicle in Chittagong starting with the serial No17. It has only vehicle from serial 8 to 12.”
Earlier in the day, Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Syeed Nurul Islam had disclosed about the indetification of the vehicle to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday morning.
He said: “The number of the car is Chittagong Metro Ga-17-8327, according to the still pictures of the footage found in the close circuit (CC) camera on the Polashi end of Jatrabari flyover.
