Historic Mujibnagar Day today
The nation is observing the historic Mujibnagar Day today to mark the formation of the Bangladesh’s first government in exile.
On this day in 1971 the provisional Bangladesh government named Mujibnagar Government was constituted at the Mango Orchard at Baidyanathtala of Meherpur during the Liberation War.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was chosen as the president of the maiden government of Bangladesh.
Birdem strike called-off
The doctors of Birdem Hospital have called-off their strike as Additional Superintendent of Police (Adi-SP) of Dhaka district ABM Masud Hossain was withdrawn on Wednesday afternoon.

Two bodies of 4 missing students recovered
The Coast Guard on Wednesday morning has recovered two bodies of the four missing students of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) who went missing on Monday in Saint Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal.
The bodies were identified as Golam Rahim Bappi and Shahriar Rahman Noman, Teknaf Coast Guard Station Master Kazi Harunur Rashid told the Dhaka Tribune.

Dry Teesta mutating farming pattern

RAW’S netting OF ISI Agent at Dhaka Airport
The BNP yesterday demanded that the government clarify the Times of India’s report that the Indian intelligence agency picked up a Pakistani intelligence agent from Bangladesh airport.
“A report was published in an Indian English daily which reported that the Indian intelligence agency – RAW – picked up a Pakistani intelligence agent of the ISI from Bangladesh airport. We want an explanation from the government about this.”
DU student goes missing
A Dhaka University student went missing from the Fuller Road area in the Dhaka University campus on Tuesday evening, claimed classmates and family members.
The missing student, Azizul Haq Khan Kanak, is a first year student of the Finance Department of DU and a resident student of Ziaur Rahman Hall.
Chittagong, Rajshahi medical colleges upgraded to varsities
The government has decided to upgrade Chittagong and Rajshahi medical colleges to the status of medical universities.
The health and family welfare ministry issued two separate circulars in this regard on April 15.
HC issues order on forming monitoring cell for hospitals
The High Court issued a ruling yesterday asking the government why it should not be directed to form a high-powered monitoring cell to check the government and private hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, diagnostic centres and laboratories.
The court also wanted to know why the government should not be directed to halt unauthorised private hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and diagnostic centres across the country.
