Siddique abduction: Kidnappers sped off towards Dhaka

Criminals, who abducted Abu Bakar Siddique on Wednesday afternoon, had sped off towards Dhaka after the incident.

Narayanganj SP Syed Nurul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday evening.

 A 12-member committee has been formed to accelerate operational activities to rescue the kidnapped businessman, added the SP.

 “Additional SP (Administration) Sazzadur Rahman will head the committee and Additional SP (Crime) Shahidul Haq will act as the member secretary”, the SP said. However, noting that law enforcement agencies had been experiencing some difficulties in operational activities, the SP said the incident took place on the bordering area between Dhaka and Narayanganj district.

 Meanwhile Syeda Rizwana Hasan filed a case with Fatullah Police Station, Inspector Akhter Hossain, Officer in Charge of Fatullah Police Station informed the Dhaka Tribune.

In the case statement, she mentioned that that a gang of seven to eight criminals kidnapped her husband at Delpara near Bhuiya Filling Station on Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road on his way to Dhaka from Dapa area in Fatullah.

Chauffeur of Siddique’s vehicle, Ripon, who had accompanied the businessman during the kidnapping incident, had been taken to the custody of the RAB for interrogation. RAB also had been investigating the case in parallel to the police.
