The minister for the Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Huq hinted yesterday that they will go through many steps to track down fake freedom fighters.
“We will identify them (fake freedom fighters) by forming new committees in the upazila level and by checking their names against the Indian registers that recorded the names of the people who took part in the 1971 liberation war by getting training there,” said AKM Mozammel.
The minister also said if there are any specific complaints against the existing freedom fighters in the Muktibarta, a pro-liberation publication during 1971, will also be checked and finally, they will face the contemporary freedom fighters with whom they fought.
The minister said all this while inaugurating the Kushtia District Freedom Fighters Building in the morning.
Mozammel Huq continued that the AL government has increased the monthly allowance for the freedom fighters and it is also building complexes for the freedom fighters in each upazila, the use of which will allow them to be able to manage their own cost.
Mausoleums will be built on the mass graveyards of the country so that the next generation can know of the atrocities of the occupational Pakistani army during the war, Mozammel stated.
Afterwards, the minister visited the homestead of prominent litterateurs Mir Mosharraf Hossain and Shilaidah Kutibari.
