A man strangled his mother to death for Tk 5000 in Bajgodda village under Sadar upazila of Comilla district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Wahida Begum, 50, wife of late Abdus Sattar of the area.
Locals said auto-rickshaw driver Ashik asked Tk 5000 from his mother for repairing his auto-rickshaw, however Wahida denied it.
At a stage, Ashik strangled his mother to death around 4:30pm.
Later, locals caught Ashik and handed over him to the local police station.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Kotwali police station Sub-Inspector Shamsuzzman also the investigation Officer of the case said Ashik was an addict and he killed his mother for money.
