A total of 19 prisoners of Bagerhat district jail have fallen sick because of food poisoning on Tuesday morning.
The ailing prisoners were admitted to the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital on Tuesday morning, said Jail Superintendent Md Habibullah.
“We served special food on Monday on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh. They have fallen sick due to severe heat after eating the food.”
Bagerhat sadar hospital’s Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Kuheli Begum said: “The patients might have fallen sick for food poisoning. They were admitted to the diarrhoea ward.”
