Five people have died and thirty-four others injured in three separate road accidents in Kishoreganj, Jessore and Joypurhat districts on Monday, reported BSS.
The dead in Kishoreganj were Abdul Hai, 60, of Tarail upazila and Mamun Mia, 35, of Gouripur upazila. Twenty others were injured in the accident.
The incident occurred when a night coach from Dhaka and a timber-laden trolley had a head-on collision.
The bus turned turtle, leaving a passenger Abdul Hai dead on the spot.
Later, Mamun Mia died after he was rushed to hospital. Of the 20 injured, four are said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, in Jessore, a housewife, Shilu Begum, 24, of Jhikargacha upazila died when a truck on the Jessore-Benapole Road hit the rickshaw van that she was traveling in. Two others, who were traveling on the van, were also injured, seriously.
They were rushed to the Jessore Medical College Hospital.
In Joypurhat, two people died and 12 others were injured when a bus and pick-up van had a head-on collision.
Police and witnesses said that the driver of the pick-up, Shaheen, 29, of Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj district and a vegetable vendor, Alal, 38 of Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district died on the spot.
