The civil servants have been instructed to send files directly to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the absence of ministers, state ministers or deputy ministers concerned.
An official letter containing the instruction was sent to all secretaries of the civil bureaucracy yesterday. It was signed by Cabinet Secretary Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.
In the letter, it was said the decision had been made to accelerate routine tasks of the ministries and divisions and to complete those with efficiency.
It was also said that in case of emergency, issues expected to be dealt with ministers, state ministers or deputy ministers would have to be presented before the premier in absence of the designated officials. The bureaucrats were requested to follow the instruction accordingly.
The letter was sent to the principal secretary to the prime minister, all the secretaries, personal secretaries of all the ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers and advisers to the premier.
According to Cabinet Division officials, the government has taken the decision to reduce the unnecessary delays in disposing of the files of the ministries and divisions that remain pending due to the absence of ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers.
Most of the ministers visit different countries for government purposes. Many important issues related to the ministries and divisions thus remain unattended due to the absence of officials concerned, resulting in unwanted difficulties.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to eliminate the difficulties and that is why she accepted the responsibility, the letter read.
The cabinet division issued the letter with the consent of the premier.
