Eleven persons have sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out at a building in Farmgate area of the capital.
The injured are -- Shafiul Alam, 46, Khalilur Rahman, 36, Mahmudul Hasan, 38, Jahirul Islam, 60, Abdul Latif, 70, Masud, 25, Motaleb, 12, Roni, 38, Uzzal, 28, Shammi Aktar Jhilik, 19, and Rifat Ara Yasmin, 19.
The injured were admitted to Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Professor Khandakar Sazzad Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune.
He said the fire originated from a cylinder blast at Mahfuz Sewing and Electrics situated on the ground floor around 2:30pm on Thursday.
However, fire service control room operator Farid Uddin told the Dhaka Tribune that the fire broke out from a short circuit of the electrical shop.
A ready-made garment factory is housed in the four-storey building near Tejturi Bazar women’s college.
