The sixth phase upazila election is expected to be held in the first week of May, said Election Commissioner M Shahnewaz.
He made the announcement while talking to journalists at the EC office on Monday, BSS reports.
Shahnewaz said concrete decision would be taken in this regard after Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed returns to country from abroad.
He said CEC is expected to return home on April 14.
He said the commission has a plan for holding pourasava election at the beginning of next year which would be followed by Union Parishad (UP) elections.
Replying to a question about the DCC election, he said there are still a number of complexities including demarcation of boundary which have to be resolved before elections can be held.
