18 Bangladeshis return after serving in Indian jail

Eighteen Bangladeshi youths came back to Bangladesh after serving two years in Indian Central Jail.

They were handed over to Benapole immigration police on Monday evening.

Monir Hossain, officer in-charge of Benapole immigration police, told journalists that the Bangladeshis went to India on February 3, 2012, in search of better jobs.

Indian police sent them to jail after arresting them from Kolkata.

All the 18 were sent back to Bangladesh through Benapole land port by the Indian authorities after initiatives taken by the Bangladesh government.

“They were handed over to their family members,” Monir Hossain added.
